Lucky Talisman

Lucky Talisman (Face Planes)

In this peculiarly structured work of synthesis, Dalí has chosen to depict a very special fawn, one which possesses Luck and Fortune.

His large mouth opens wide in a happy grin; it is a space separating the other two areas of the sculpture, which are fashioned in simple planes, reminiscent of the masks used in Greek theatre. The figure's eyes, hair and flowing beard stand out.

He is calling other fawns to come and see what has been brought to him: happiness and richness, brought by the goddess Fortune to be shared out generously among his companions.
